Student Section - Improving Public Schools
The Mayor is traveling to each ward to talk with residents about what they think would make public education work better. You may not have been able to attend one of his Education Town Hall Meetings, but the Mayor still wants your input.
What would you respond to the following questions?
1. What should be the top 3 early action priorities for improving DCPS and public education?
2. How can we ensure that schools are safe and provide a good environment for learning in DCPS and other public schools?
3. How can parents, guardians, and community members be best involved in DCPS and public education?
for question # 3 the way i think parents and guardians and commuunity member get involved into the DCPS education in first start off by going to them that don't mean asking them to come out all the time because when you go to them that will make them think OK maybe they do care about or kids. Then after you have caught there eye then you start telling them to come out
instead of punishing a student for something bad you should find out why it happened and ask what the student thinks will help to prevent it again
schools should have a tutoring program
before and after school
also if a student is having problems with a teacher you should listen to what the student has to say, not the other way around
i do not think suspending the student helps at all because in most cases some of the student be wanting to get suspended and go home what do that prove to you by suspending that student nothing to them
I think that the way to make all the schools better is to do more things that is still on the subject your talking about and fun at the same time, I think that make the student want to work.
